Industrial Rehabilitation Program

Ballard offers individualized work programs to meet the respective needs of patients, employers and referring physicians. We simulate work activities and environments to increase endurance, functional tolerances and strength specific to the actual physical demands of various jobs. We use advanced technology and equipment to validate a patient’s grip strength, static and dynamic lifting and other abilities. Progress reports demonstrate the patient’s current activity and work tolerances and compare current levels to actual job expectations.

Goals
Through intensive exercise and education, these goals are accomplished:
reduced symptoms.
reduced costs.
improved patient stamina and endurance.
increased knowledge of injury or disease process.
proper body mechanics.
energy conservation.
joint protection.

Services
At Ballard, we offer a range of industrial rehabilitation services, including the following:
A work tolerance evaluation is the testing of the physical demands and/or requirements of a specific task or a field of work.
A functional capacity evaluation measures strength, flexibility, weight lifting, weight carrying and pushing and pulling movements to determine function ability.
A job site analysis is the detailed evaluation of the actual tasks of a job and the measurement of its physical demands. When requested, recommendations are made to reduce the physical demands of the job without impacting essential work functions.
Work hardening is a highly structured, individualized treatment program designed to return the person to work. Interdisciplinary in nature, this program uses real or simulated work activities designed to restore physical, behavioral and vocational functions. Work hardening addresses productivity, safety, physical tolerances and worker behaviors.
Work conditioning is an intensive treatment program specifically designed to restore an individual’s strength, endurance, movement, flexibility and motor control so the patient can return to work.
